It’s weird. I’ve been told that I’m a good storyteller. However, whenever I need to create a story for marketing purposes or to help get a point across in a business setting my mind goes blank.
For some reason I struggle to come up with a story that connects and moves the person down the Customer Buying Line.
So that lead me to researching how to come up with great stories for marketing. Here’s what I found.
This Slideshare is a quick, 19-slide presentation that may not blow the doors off what you may already know but it does point out and reinforce a few very important points.
For example, every story needs a beginning, middle and end. I know this is obvious but how many times have you not followed that structure only to see the person you’re talking to look confused and befuddled? Be honest! It’s happened to me for sure.
An incomplete story reminds me of the part in the movie “Something About Mary” when Ben Stiller’s character is telling Mary how he got to where she was and he says, “My friend and I got in the car… and decided to come to Florida, right.” and that was it. The end of the story. As you can imagine she was confused when nothing else was said. Made for a very funny part in the movie but not so good for proper storytelling technique.
There’s a ton more to benefit from inside theĀ 19-slides. I highly recommend you take a few minutes and review it. And then share your thoughts below.
