A lead magnet is something you can use to give your prospective clients as low risk way to introduce yourself and your business. It has a low barrier to entry because they are free. BUT they offer huge value.
Lead magnets should focus on helping your market solve a pressing problem they have. It should NOT focus on you and your business. Remember, you always want to help them get closer to a desired result. A lead magnet is a great way to start doing that. And you’ll be able to get your “foot in the door” because there’s no risk to the client.
Most of the time the lead magnet is protected by an optin page. All that means is for people to get access to the free goodie they need to provide you with the name and email address. You’ll want to do that so you can start building your own email list. That way you can continue to market and sell to your list on an ongoing basis.
You also want them to optin because it makes them put “skin in the game”. Meaning you’ll know that they’re not just freebie seekers looking for a handout. But they are actually at least a tad bit serious because they’re willing to give you their name and email. Does that make sense?
